Wedding Photographer Malta

WEDDING

Malta isn't just a wedding destination β€” it's a film set waiting for two people in love. Golden limestone cliffs, baroque cathedrals, hidden coves, and light that photographers cross oceans for: this island gives every wedding story a cinematic backdrop, and that's exactly why we call Valletta home.

We're Dois Ramos, a film & digital wedding photography studio based right here in Valletta, Malta. We believe that what holds the greatest value is rarely found on the surface. Our journey has been shaped by a desire to look beyond appearances β€” a pursuit that has taken us through fashion, advertising, different countries, and influences far beyond the world of wedding photography. Today, we believe meaningful photographs aren't created by technique alone, but by the ability to recognize what already matters: a genuine connection, an honest emotion, a story worth preserving. That's why we photograph weddings β€” to preserve memories in the most authentic, thoughtful, and timeless way we can. We create for decades, not for weeks.

Why Book a Wedding Photographer in Malta

Malta packs an extraordinary range of scenery into a small island β€” which means your wedding photos don't have to stick to one look:

  • The Blue Lagoon and Comino for turquoise water and dramatic cliffside portraits
  • Valletta's baroque streets for timeless, architectural backdrops, right where we live and shoot every week
  • Mdina, the Silent City, for golden-hour portraits inside medieval walls
  • Gozo's coastline and Ta' Pinu for quieter, more intimate elopement settings
  • Dingli Cliffs for sweeping views and golden light right before sunset

Because Malta is so compact, it's realistic to shoot a ceremony at one venue and portraits at two or three completely different backdrops in the same afternoon β€” something few destinations allow. Being based in Valletta year-round means we know exactly which light, tide, and time of day each of these locations needs.

Destination Wedding Photography in Malta

Planning a wedding in Malta from abroad? Malta makes it easy β€” it's close to the rest of Europe, English is widely spoken, and the light is reliable almost year-round. Being local means we handle the logistics of shooting across multiple locations in one day, and can guide you toward the right spots for your ceremony, portraits, and reception β€” so you can focus on the wedding, not the schedule.

Elopement & Intimate Wedding Photography in Malta

Not every love story needs 150 guests. Malta and Gozo are some of the best places in the Mediterranean for an elopement or micro-wedding β€” a clifftop ceremony at sunrise, a quiet chapel in Mdina, a boat out to Comino. We photograph these smaller, quieter days with the same care as a full wedding β€” often more, because there's more room to slow down.

Engagement & Pre-Wedding Sessions in Malta

An engagement session in Malta doubles as a location scout and a way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day itself. One of our favourite spots for this is St. Paul's Bay β€” the coastline there gives us open sea views, dramatic light, and a much quieter backdrop than the busier tourist spots, which makes for a relaxed, unhurried session.

Our Style

We shoot both film and digital on the day, which means your gallery holds the warmth and grain of film alongside the flexibility and speed of digital delivery. We're not chasing trends or performing for the camera β€” we're looking for what's real: a glance, a joke between you and your partner, the moment nobody staged. Creating for decades, not for weeks, means every photo is made to still mean something years from now.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you travel for weddings, or are you based in Malta?

We live and work in Valletta, Malta β€” this is home, not a destination we fly into. We also travel for weddings outside Malta when couples want us there.

Do you shoot in film, digital, or both?

We shoot both. Film for its warmth and timelessness, digital for flexibility and faster turnaround β€” most couples get a blend of both in their final gallery.

How far in advance should we book a Malta wedding photographer?

We recommend booking 3 to 6 months ahead, especially if your date falls in peak season (May–September).

Do you photograph elopements and small weddings, or only full weddings?

Yes β€” we love shooting elopements and intimate ceremonies as much as full weddings.

How do we book you for a wedding in Malta?

Get in touch with your date and venue (or the venues you're considering) and we'll walk you through availability and next steps: contato@doisramos.com or +356 9996 0791.
